Social Media Ambassadors (SMAs) regularly share content from Duquesne University's social media accounts that interest them and that they believe would resonate with alumni in their social networks. We encourage Ambassadors to be as active as possible given their work and personal schedules and to be especially active leading up to and during highlighted alumni events. Information to be shared will be shared with Network members on a bi-weekly basis.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Commit to serving as a member of our Social Media Ambassador Network for as long as you are able to do so. We encourage weekly activity but understand that schedules can get hectic, and that not all posts will resonate with each Ambassadors' social network.
2. Agree to guidelines that outline a respectful, appropriate, and positive social media presence.
3. Maintain contact with Duquesne’s Office of Alumni Engagement, who will send bi-weekly emails to SMAs detailing the posts we're asking to be promoted.
4. Share content from the suggested social media accounts that interest them and that they believe would resonate with alumni in their social networks.
5. Share/post to promote Homecoming Weekend and Day of Giving.
SMAs can accomplish these responsibilities in many ways:
- Like, comment, share, or retweet posts from suggested social media accounts
- Sharing/retweeting with your personal comment is even better, for example:
- Post photos from events on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or LinkedIn and use the corresponding hashtags (#DUQAlumni) from events if in attendance
- Encourage their social networks to follow University social media accounts
FAQs
How much of a time commitment is involved?
We encourage SMAs to be as active as possible given their schedules. We suggest weekly activity.
Do I need to be active on all social media platforms?
No! You'll be asked to indicate your preferred social media outlets on your application. You'll only use those networks you are already active on.
Do I need to change my privacy settings?
Not if you are uncomfortable doing so. While we like to have the SMAs’ accounts public so that @DuqAlumni can access posts to like or share, we respect your privacy preferences. On some platforms, like Facebook, you can make specific posts public.
What do I get in return for my posts?
In addition to knowing that you are doing something good for your alma mater, we will periodically send Duquesne swag to SMAs who are posting content on a regular basis! You will also be recognized on our annual volunteer honor roll. (Please note that we will only know of your activity if your posts are made public. Again, it is NOT required that you change your setting if you prefer not to.)
