Career Quick Connect
Jointly hosted by the Office for Undergraduate Education and Ag Alumni Relations, the Career Quick Connect program offers the opportunity for one-to-one career exploration and abbreviated mentorship sessions. Penn State Ag Sciences undergraduate students from all majors and all class levels are encouraged to participate in the program.
Designed with a flexible and relaxed format, participants can expect to discuss topics like the average day at your job, your career path, opportunities in your organization and industry, and the impact that the Penn State alumni network had on your career.
How will I be matched with a student?
Based on the information you provide at sign-up, and the information provided by the students, our Ag Sciences Career Services and Alumni Relations staff will match you with a student.
Students will have the opportunity to view a list of participating alumni bios and indicate their preferences for pairing during the sign-up process. As our goal is to match students with hosts in their specific field of interest, we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with a student. However, we will keep your information and offer on file for future semesters.
What is the timeframe for the program?
If you are interested in participating, please sign up by January 21st. Alumni and students will be jointly emailed to facilitate an introduction in February. Virtual conversations will occur during the month of March.
What technology do I need to have available?
Each student has access to utilize Penn State’s Zoom account in order to set up and host the session. Participants are encouraged to utilize a computer or phone with a camera, but it is not required to participate.
What should I talk about during the 1-hour session? Participants should be prepared to talk about the path that led you to where you are today, what your average day is like, opportunities within your organization/industry, and general advice for students interested in your field. Of course, these are suggestions and not limitations as every conversation is unique.
Can I meet more than one student?
Yes! If you are willing to be matched with more than one student, please indicate so on the sign-up form.
Can I use my bio from last year?
Yes! If you'd like to use your previous year's bio, select the "Returning Host" option when signing up for this year. Bio information won't be required in that option unless you'd like to update the field.
