Michigan vs Penn State with Jim Laslavic
Join us for a very special watch party! We are honoring Jim Laslavic ('73) by naming our World Campus scholarships after him.
For those of you who know Jim—former Penn State linebacker, NFL player, and San Diego sportscaster—you know he bleeds blue and white. Jim played for Penn State in the early 1970’s and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1973. He played for the Lions, the Chargers, and the Green Bay Packers before being hired in 1983 by KFMB-8 as a sportscaster. He worked in the sports broadcast business for 36 years until his retirement from KNSD-7 in 2019.
Over the years, Jim’s commitment to integrity—both in his personal and professional life—has been exemplified through his legacy of community service and his down-to-earth, humble spirit. To honor and celebrate his well-deserved retirement, SDPSU is pleased to announce that we are changing the name of our World Campus scholarships to “The Jim Laslavic World Campus Scholarships.”
Be on hand to witness a special half-time speech from Jim in the main room. We hope you’ll make it a point to attend this one-of-a-kind event and celebrate with “Laz.” We’ll be raffling off some special prizes specifically for this occasion, so mark your calendars now.
