Diversity and Inclusion: Becoming an Advocate

Please join us on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM ET for a conversation on diversity in the workplace, focused on creating a culture of equity & inclusion. This event will feature both a panel discussion & opportunity for virtual small group networking. Our panelists include Jamie Campbell, Penn State Smeal College of Business Assistant Dean, Karla Trotman, President & CEO at Electro Soft, Incorporated - Electronics Contract Manufacturing (ECM) & Ifeoluwa (Ife) Ogunyinka, Admissions Counselor and Multicultural Recruiter for Penn State University.

Jamie, Karla & Ife will share insight into supporting diverse teams, provide recommended actions to create workplace inclusion & underscore the benefits related to organizations, teams & individuals. We encourage anyone looking to become a strong advocate of diversity & inclusion to participate in this important discussion. This event will be co-hosted by AAAO Philly, Smeal Club Philly, and Penn State Philly.

Panelist Bios

Ifeoluwa (Ife) Ogunyinka

Ifeoluwa (Ife) Ogunyinka is a Class of 2020 graduate of Penn State with a BA in Global Studies and a minor in Communication Arts and Sciences. During her time at Penn State, she worked and volunteered as a Mentor and Tutor to High School Students and her fellow Penn Staters. Following her passion to support students in higher education, Ife accepted a position as Admissions Counselor and Multicultural Recruiter for Penn State, catering to High School students in the Philadelphia area. Ife plans to pursue a Master's and PhD in Communication Studies with a focus on African and African Diasporic Studies in order to impart the same knowledge, support, and confidence she received as a student.

Karla Trotman 
Karla Trotman is the President & CEO of Electro Soft, Incorporated, an electronics engineering and manufacturing firm in suburban Philadelphia. Her background in supply chain logistics, purchasing, global scheduling, and e-commerce, led her to leadership positions in distribution and supply chain logistics for Gap, Metrologic Instruments (Honeywell) and IKEA Wholesale, Inc. While pregnant and working at IKEA, Karla launched a successful online business selling products for pre- and postnatal women. Over the next eight years, the business grew quickly with both an international and celebrity clientele.  Trotman was featured on NBC 10 News, People Magazine’s Celebrity Baby Blog, CBSNews.com, Huffington Post Live, several radio shows, as well as in books and countless blogs. She is a member of the Drexel Board of Governors and was appointed to Montgomery County's Workforce Development Board. In addition, she sits on the Corporate Advisory Board for the Museum of the American Revolution and is a board member for Carson Valley Children’s Aid and the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project which raises money to train lawyer advocates to fight for abused children living in abusive homes or victims of human trafficking.  Trotman holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Logistics with a Minor in the Legal Environment of Business from Penn State University and an MBA from Drexel University.

Jamie Campbell
Jamie is the Assistant Dean for Diversity Enhancement at the Penn State Smeal College of Business. In 2013, he was selected as the recipient of the Dr. James Robinson Equal Opportunity Award winner, which recognizes a Penn State faculty or staff member who has contributed to the University by improving cross-cultural understanding. Jamie is a 1995 graduate of Morehouse College where he obtained his BA in Sociology. He obtained his M.Ed with concentrations in Adult Education and Instruction Education from Central Michigan University in 2003. Presently, Jamie is a Ph.D. candidate in the Workforce Education Program with concentrations in Organization Design and Human Resource Development at The Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on Diversity Practices as a form of Crisis Management. He and his wife Kimberly, are the parents of three children (Grace, Vivian, and Lillian).
