Background

2021 G. Albert Shoemaker Lecture in Mineral Engineering

Penn State’s John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering is proud to host the G. Albert Shoemaker Lecture in Mineral Engineering, a conference series meant to bring outstanding leaders of the energy and mineral resource industries into contact with the Penn State community to discuss issues of critical importance to the minerals industry. The series was established in 1992 by Mercedes G. Shoemaker to honor the memory of her husband, a Pittsburgh civic and industrial leader dedicated to the support of higher education, and the inaugural Shoemaker Lecture was presented on April 3, 1992 by B. R. Brown, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Consolidation Coal Company. We invite our alumni and friends to join us for this year’s lecture in a remote format.
