Alumni Expert: Angela Rogers - Starting Strong in Your First "Real" Job
Starting a new job? Research shows that new employee onboarding is critical for successfully adjusting to a new job and also for building a more satisfying career; however, most organizations don’t provide adequate onboarding. That leaves new hires, especially those who areng their first job, at a disadvantage. This workshop will provide a set of self-onboarding strategies that can complement the process that an organization may have in place, or serve as a new job survival kit if you’re on your own as a new hire.
Bio: Angela Michele Rogers, Ph.D., earned her doctorate in Workforce Education and Development in 2022. Her dissertation focused on new employee onboarding. Previously she was a training partner with the University’s Center for Workplace Learning and Performance and the co-chair of the Penn State Commission for Women. Angela is a Distinguished Toastmaster. She is a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and the Pittsburgh chapter, currently serving as a VP of Finance. She is a qualitative researcher and a certified NVivo expert. In addition to onboarding, her interests are communications, leadership, career development, organization development, individual agency, and DEIB.
